UCLA beat top seed North Carolina 4-1 to eliminate them in game 12 of the College World Series in Omaha. The victory allowed the Bruins to advance to the championship series against Mississippi State which starts Monday. UCLA got their first run in the second when Pat Gallagher scored on a single by Cody Regis. They followed their tournament template in the sixth when Eric Filia reached on an error and later scored on a single by Kevin Williams. The Bruins added a cushion in the seventh when Pat Valaika doubled to drive in Brian Carroll and Filia. North Carolina tried to wake up their bats in the ninth as they loaded the bases with no outs against David Berg who entered the game in a non save situation. The Tar Heels only managed the one run when Cody Stubbs scored on a fielder's choice. Grant Watson picked up the win after scatter four hits over six innings.
