North Carolina won 4-2 to eliminate Louisiana State in game seven of the College World Series in Omaha. Trent Thornton scattered nine hits over seven innings and Chris McCue went the final two to earn the save. LSU managed only three runs total in their two games after averaging over six per game on the year. Raph Rhymes was 0 for 5 and left eight on base to showcase the Tigers missed opportunities. Brian Holberton got the Tar Heels on the board early with a two run home run to right. Colin Moran was hitting well driving in Landon Lassiter in the third and after singling in the seventh he scored on a hit by Skye Bolt. North Carolina next plays North Carolina State on Thursday in an elimination game.
