Zack Greinke traded to Angels

Zack Greinke was traded by the Milwaukee Brewers to the Los Angeles Angels on July 27, 2012. In exchange the Brewers receive Jean Segura, John Hellweg and Ariel Pena. 


RHP Greinke is in his ninth MLB season pitching for the Brewers and Royals. In 2012 he is 9-3 with a 3.44 ERA, 122 K, 1.20 WHIP in 123.0 IP over 21 games with Milwaukee. For his MLB career he is 85-76 with a 3.79 ERA, 1254 K, 1.25 WHIP in 1402.2 IP over 259 games. He was originally drafted by the Royals with the sixth pick of the first round in 2002. Greinke will be 29 on October 21.


Segura is a shortstop who was playing with the Angels Triple A team in Arkansas before a call up this week. In 2012 he hit .294/.346/.404 with 7 HR, 40 RBI, 50 R and 33 SB in 94 games with Arkansas and was hitless in one game with Los Angeles. He originally signed with the Angels as an amateur free agent in 2007 out of the Dominican Republic. Segura turned 22 on March 17.


RHP Hellweg was pitching with the Angels Double A team in Arkansas. In 2012 he was 5-10 with a 3.38 ERA, 88 K, 1.38 WHIP in 119.2 IP over 21 games with Arkansas. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the 16th round in 2008. Hellweg will be 24 on October 29.


RHP Pena was pitching with the Angels Double A team in Arkansas. In 2012 he was 6-6 witha 2.99 ERA, 111 K, 1.20 WHIP in 114.1 IP over 19 games with Arkansas. He originally signed with the Angels as an amateur free agent in 2007 of of the Dominican Republic. Pena turned 23 on May 20.
