Marco Scutaro traded to Giants

Marco Scutaro was traded by the Colorado Rockies to the San Francisco Giants on July 27, 2012. In exchange the Rockies received Charlie Culberson. 


Scutaro is a SS/2B/3B in his 11th MLB season playing for the Rockies, Red Sox, Blue Jays, Athletics and Mets. In 2012 he was hitting .271/.324/.359 with 4 HR, 30 RBI, 47 R and 3 SB in 94 games with Colorado. For his MLB career he has hit .270/.337/.386 with 72 RBI, 434 RBI, 585 R and 51 SB in 1197 games. He originally signed with the Indians as an amateur free agent in 1994 out of Venezuela. Scutaro will be 37 on October 30.


Culberson is a second baseman who has split 2012 between Triple A Fresno and the Giants. He hit .236/.281/.396 with 10 HR, 53 RBI, 52 R and 8 SB in 90 games with Fresno and hit .136/.136/.136 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 0 R and 0 SB in 6 games with San Francisco. He was originally drafted by the Giants with the 51st pick of the first round in 2007. Culberson turned 23 on April 10.
