Hanley Ramirez traded to Dodgers

Hanley Ramirez was traded by the Miami Marlins to the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 25, 2012 along with Randy Choate. In exchange the Marlins received Nate Eovaldi and Scott McGough.


Ramirez is a SS/3B in his eighth MLB season playing with the Marlins and Red Sox. In 2012 he was hitting .246/.322/.430 with 14 HR, 47 RBI, 49 R, 14 SB in 92 games with Miami. For his MLB career he has hit .300/.374/.499 with 148 HR, 481 RBI, 666 R, 230 SB in 944 games. He originally signed with the Red Sox  as an amateur free agent in 2000 out of the Dominican Republic. Ramirez will be 29 on December 23.


LHP Choate is in his 12th MLB season playing with the Marlins, Rays, Diamondbacks and Yankees. In 2012 he is 0-0 with a 2.49 ERA, 27 K, 0.99 WHIP, 1 SV in 25.1 IP over 44 games with Miami. For his MLB career he is 11-11 with a 4.01 ERA, 255 K, 1.32 WHIP, 6 SV in 296.0 IP over 440 games. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in the fifth round in 1997. Choate will be 37 on September 5th.


RHP Eovaldi is in his second MLB season all with the Dodgers. He has split 2012 between Triple A Chattanooga and the Dodgers. In 2012 he was 2-2 with a 3.09 ERA, 30 K, 1.23 WHIP in 35.0 IP over 9 games with Chattanooga and was 1-6 with a 4.15 ERA, 34 K, 1.47 WHIP in 56.1 IP over 10 games with Los Angeles. For his MLB career he is 2-8 with a 3.96 ERA, 57 K, 1.44 WHIP in 91.0 IP over 20 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 11th round in 2008. Eovaldi turned 22 on February 13.


RHP McGough was playing with the Dodgers Class A Advanced team in Rancho Cucamonga. In 2012 he was 3-5 with a 3.88 ERA, 47 K, 1.47 WHIP, 5 SV in 46.1 IP over 34 games with Rancho Cucamonga. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in the fifth round in 2011. McGough will be 23 on October 31.
