Carlos Lee traded to Marlins

Carlos Lee was traded by the Houston Astros to the Miami Marlins on July 4, 2012. In exchange the Astros receive minor league players Matt Dominguez and Rob Rasmussen.


Lee is a 1B/OF in his 14th MLB season that also included time with the Rangers, Brewers and White Sox. This season with the Astros he was hitting .287/.336/.411 with 5 HR, 29 RBI, 24 R, 0 SB in 66 games. For his career he has hit .286/.339/.489 with 354 HR, 1315 RBI, 1096 R, 122 SB in 2018 games. He originally signed with the White Sox as an amateur free agent in 1994 out of Panama. Lee turned 36 on June 20.


Dominguez is a third baseman who has played this season with the Marlins Triple A team New Orleans Zephyrs. In 2012 he has hit .234/.291/.357 with 7 HR, 46 RBI, 27 R, 0 SB in 78 games. He was originally drafted by the Marlins with the 12th pick in the first round in 2007. Dominguez will be 23 on August 28.


Rasmussen is a LHP who was pitching with the Marlins Class A Advanced team Jupiter Hammerheads. In 2012 he is 4-7 with a 3.90 ERA, 75 K, 1.36 WHIP in 87.2 IP over 16 games. He was originally drafted by the Marlins in the second round in 2010. Rasmussen turned 23 on April 2nd.
