Jed Lowrie traded to Athletics

Jed Lowrie was traded by the Houston Astros to the Oakland Athletics on November 25, 2015. The Astros in exchange received Brendan McCurry. 

Lowrie is a SS/3B/2B who split 2015 between Double A Corpus Christi while rehabbing and the Astros. He hit .214/.267/.286 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 0 R, 0 SB in 5 games at Corpus Christi and .222/.312/.400 with 9 HR, 30 RBI, 35 R, 1 SB in 69 games with the Astros. Over nine MLB seasons with the Astros, Athletics and Red Sox he has hit .257/.327/.408 with 65 HR, 321 RBI, 328 R, 7 SB in 718 games. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox with the 45th pick of the first round in 2005, traded to the Astros in 2011, traded to the Athletics in 2013 and signed with the Astros as a free agent in 2014. Lowrie will be 32 on April 17.

RHP McCurry split 2015 between Class A Advanced Stockton and Double A Midland. He was 1-2, 1.94 WHIP, 56 K, 0.88 WHIP, .182 BAA, 21 SV in 46.1 IP over 36 games at Stockton and 0-1, 1.62 ERA, 26 K, 0.90 WHIP, .155 BAA, 6 SV in 16.2 IP over 14 games at Midland. He was originally drafted by the Athletics in the 22nd round in 2014. McCurry turned 24 on January 7th.
