Brett Lawrie traded to White Sox

Brett Lawrie was traded by the Oakland Athletics to the Chicago White Sox on December 9, 2015. The Athletics in exchange received J.B. Wendelken and Zack Erwin. 

Lawrie is a 3B\2B who hit .260/.299/.407 with 16 HR, 60 RBI, 64 R, 5 SB in 149 games with the Athletics in 2015. Over six MLB seasons with the White Sox, Athletics and Blue Jays he has hit .264/.317/.420 with 60 HR, 223 RBI, 238 R, 35 SB in 512 games. He was originally drafted by the Brewers with the 16th pick of the first round in 2008, traded to the Blue Jays in 2010 and traded to the Athletics in 2014. Lawrie turned 26 on January 18.

RHP Wendelken split 2015 between Double A Birmingham and Triple A Charlotte. He was 6-2, 2.72 ERA, 56 K, 1.09 WHIP, .220 BAA, 5 SV in 43.0 IP over 27 games and 0-0, 4.50 ERA, 13 K, 1.19 WHIP, .226 BAA in 16.0 IP over 12 games. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox in the 13th round in 2012 and was traded to the White Sox in 2013. Wendelken turned 23 on March 24.

LHP Erwin split 2015 between Rookie Great Falls and Class A Kannapolis. He was 2-0, 0.84 ERA, 15 K, 0.94 WHIP, .210 BAA in 21.1 IP over 8 games at Great Falls with 4 GS and 0-2, 1.89 ERA, 15 K, 1.00 WHIP, .224 BAA in 19.0 IP over 7 games at Kannapolis with 3 GS. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the fourth round in 2015. Erwin turned 22 on January 24.
