Tony Cruz traded to Royals

Tony Cruz was traded by the St Louis Cardinals to the Kansas City Royals on December 2, 2015. The Cardinals in exchange received Jose Martinez.

Cruz is a C\3B who hit .204/.235/.310 with 2 HR, 11 RBI,  6 R, 0 SB in 69 games with the Cardinals in 2015. over five MLB seasons with the Cardinals he hit .220/.262/.310 with 5 HR, 58 RBI, 49 R, 0 SB in 259 games. His MLB caught stealing rate is 27%. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the 26th round in 2007. Cruz will be 30 on August 18.

Martinez is a SS\2B who split 2015 between Rookie Burlington and Rookie Idaho Falls. He hit .243/.306/.284 with 1 HR, 24 RBI, 27 R, 4 SB in 57 games at Burlington and .273/.333/.409 with 1 HR, 5 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 6 games at Idaho Falls. He originally signed with the Royals in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Martinez will be 20 on August 15.
