Rex Brothers traded to Cubs

Rex Brothers was traded by the Colorado Rockies to the Chicago Cubs on November 25.2015. The Rockies in exchange received Wander Cabrera.

RHP Brothers split 2015 between Triple A Albuqurque and the Rockies. He was 5-2, 4.46 ERA, 61 K, 1.68 WHIP, .181 BAA, 3 SV in 42.1 IP over 45 games at Albuquerque and 1-0, 1.74 ERA, 5 K, 1.65 WHIP, .243 BAA in 10.1 IP over 17 games with the Rockies. Over five MLB seasons with the Rockies he was 16-11, 3.42 ERA, 278 K, 1.49 WHIP, .243 BAA, 20 SV in 242.1 IP over 286 games. He was originally drafted by the Rockies with the 34th pick of the first round in 2009. Brothers turned 28 on December 18.

LHP played in the Dominican Summer League in 2015 where he was 4-3, 2.34 ERA, 47 K, 1.25 WHIP, .199 BAA in 42.1 IP over 14 games with 7 GS. He originally signed with the Cubs in 2015 out of the Dominican Republic. Cabrera turned 18 on November 7th.
