Two Major One Minor 042115

Here is my second Two Major One Minor segment of 2015. This is my fifth year of doing this series where I feature two Major League players and one minor league player each week. This week I am featuring Anthony DeSclafani, Jake Odorizzi and Mike Bolsinger.

RHP DeSclafani of the Cincinnati Reds has started the season out pitching his previous performances and his projections. He has started at 2-0, 0.86 ERA, 16 K, 0.62 WHIP, .127 BAA in 21.0 IP over 3 games. Both his wins were on the road with 2-hit seven and eight inning performances. Considering he pitches in a very hitter friendly park if he can thrive on the road that would bode well for him and the team. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the sixth round in 2011. DeSclafani turned 25 on April 18.

RHP Odorizzi of the Tampa Bay Rays is battling to become the ace of the staff in an organization known for excellent pitching. He is matching Chris Archer pitch for pitch as he has started 2-1, 1.74 ERA, 19 K, .0.68 WHIP, .129 BAA in 20.2 IP over 3 games. The trick will be to continue the stellar 3.9 hits per nine and 2.2 walks per nine rates. He was originally drafted by the Brewers with the 32nd pick of the first round in 2008. Odorizzi turned 25 on March 27.

RHP Bolsinger has set a dominant tone with the Oklahoma City Dodgers to start 2015. He is 2-0, 0.00 ERA, 17 K, 0.55 WHIP, .088 BAA in 11.0 IP over 2 games. Over those 11 innings he has allowed only 3 hits and 3 walks to account for that minicule WHIP. He did get some MLB experience last year with 10 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks. Although he played at a hitter friendly park he fared worse on the road. The Dodgers liked what enough of what they saw to purchase his contract in the off season. He was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks in the 15th round in 2010. Bolsinger turned 27 on January 29.
