Miguel Cabrera wins Triple Crown 2012
Miguel Cabrera of the Detroit Tigers became the first player to win the Triple Crown since 1967. He topped the batting average, home run and RBI categories as in 2012 he hit .330/.393/605 with 44 HR, 139 RBI, 109 R, 4 SB in 161 games. The third baseman was 0-2 the last game before leaving the game early. His closest challenger in batting average was Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels who went 2 for 3 the last game to finish at .326. His closest challenger in both home runs and RBI was Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers who didn't get any of either in a 1 for 5 performance the last game as he finished with 43 HR and 128 RBI. The last Triple Crown winner was Carl Yastrzemski of the Boston Red Sox who in 1967 hit .326/.418/.622 with 44 HR, 121 RBI, 112 R, 10 SB in 161 games.
