Giants over Cardinals NLCS 2012
The San Francisco Giants won the deciding seventh game of the NLCS over the St Louis Cardinals with a 9-0 shut out. Giants starter Matt Cain set the tone with a line of 5.2 IP, 5 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K in 102 pitches as he left with a seven run lead. Angel Pagan and Marco Scutaro set the table going 2 for 5 and 3 for 4 respectively at the top of the order. Hunter Pence and Brandon Belt also added 2 for 5 performances with Belt hitting an 8th inning solo home run. Sergio Romo came in to get the final out in a driving rain as he got Matt Holliday to pop out to second baseman Scutaro. The Giants will face the Detroit Tigers in the World Series.
