Alex Torres traded to Mets

Alex Torres was traded by the San Diego Padres to the New York Mets on March 30, 2015. In exchange the Padres received Cory Mazzoni and a PTBNL. 

LHP Torres in 2014 was 2-1, 3.33 ERA, 51 K, 1.46 WHIP, .230 BAA, 1 SV in 54.0 IP over 70 games with the Padres. Over three MLB seasons with the Padres and Rays he was 7-4, 2.55 ERA, 122 K, 1.22 WHIP, .196 BAA in 120.0 IP over 113 games. He originally signed with the Angels in 2005 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Torres turned 28 on December 8th.

RHP Mazzoni split 2014 between Rookie Gulf Coast, Class A Advanced St Lucie, Double A Binghamton and Triple A Las Vegas. He was 0-1, 4.50 ERA, 7 K, 1.50 WHIP, .294 BAA in 4.0 IP in 1 game at Gulf Coast, 0-0, 5.00 ERA, 9 K, 1.56 WHIP, .297 BAA in 9.0 IP over 2 games at St Lucie, 2-0, 4.50 ERA, 10 K, 1.17 WHIP, .217 BAA in 12.0 IP over 2 games at Binghamton and 5-1, 4.67 ERA, 49 K, 1.27 WHIP, .269 BAA in 52.0 IP over 9 games at Las Vegas. He was originally drafted by the Mets in the second round in 2011. Mazzoni will be 26 on October 19.
