Tony Watson traded to Dodgers

Tony Watson was traded by the Pittsburgh Pirates to the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 31, 2017. The Pirates in exchange received Angel German and Oneil Cruz.

LHP Watson was 5-3, 3.66 ERA, 35 K, 1.52 WHIP, .305 BAA, 10 SV in 46.2 IP over 47 games with the Pirates in 2017. Over seven MLB seasons with the Pirates he was 31-16, 2.68 ERA, 380 K, 1.09 WHIP, .223 BAA, 30 SV in 433.0 IP over 450 games. He was originally drafted by the Pirates in the ninth round in 2007. Watson turned 32 on May 30.

RHP German was 1-0, 1.91 ERA, 37 K, 1.09 WHIP, .190 BAA, 7 SV in 33.0 IP over 21 games at Class A Great Lakes in 2017. He originally signed with the Dodgers in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. German turned 21 on May 25.

Third baseman Cruz hit 82 for 342, .240/.293/.342 with 8 HR, 36 RBI, 51 R, 8 SB in 89 games at Great Lakes in 2017. He originally signed with the Dodgers in 2015 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Cruz turned 18 on October 4th.
