Ernesto Frieri traded to Mariners
Ernesto Frieri was traded by the Texas Rangers to the Seattle Mariners on August 8, 2017 for cash. The RHP had split 2017 between Triple A Scranton\Wilkes-Barre before being released, Triple A Round Rock and the Rangers. He was 2-0, 3.00 ERA, 24 K, 1.05 WHIP, .173 BAA, 7 SV in 21.0 IP over 17 games at SWB, 0-1, 1.42 ERA, 10 K, 1.26 WHIP, .227 BAA in 6.1 IP over 7 games at Round Rock and 0-1, 5.14 ERA, 5 K, 1.71 WHIP, .250 BAA in 7.0 IP over 6 games with the Rangers. Over eight MLB seasons with the Rangers, Rays, Pirates, Angels and Padres he was 11-14, 3.59 ERA, 387 K, 1.24 WHIP, .209 BAA, 73 SV in 303.1 IP over 304 games. He originally signed with the Padres in 2003 as an amateur free agent out of Columbia. Frieri turned 32 on July 19.
