Jay Bruce was traded by the New York Mets to the Cleveland Indians on August 9, 2017. The Mets in exchange received Ryder Ryan.
Outfielder Bruce hit 104 for 406, .256/.321/.520 with 29 HR, 75 RBI, 61 R, 0 SB in 103 games with the Mets in 2017. Over 10 MLB seasons with the Mets and Reds he hit .249/.318/.472 with 270 HR, 812 RBI, 730 R, 61 SB in 1373 games. He was originally drafted by the Reds with the 12th pick of the first round in 2005 and was traded to the Mets in 2016. Bruce turned 30 on April 3rd.
RHP Ryan was 3-4, 4.79 ERA, 49 K, 1.48 WHIP, .267 BAA, 6 SV in 41.1 IP over 33 games at Class A Lake County in 2017. He was originally drafted by the Indians in the 30th round in 2016. Ryan turned 22 on May 11.
