Rajai Davis was traded by the Oakland Athletics to the Boston Red Sox on August 23, 2017. The Athletics in exchange received Rafael Rincones.
Outfielder Davis hit 49 for 328, .233/.294/.353 with 5 HR, 18 RBI, 49 R, 26 SB in 100 games with the Athletics in 2017. Over 12 MLB seasons with the Red Sox, Athletics, Indians, Tigers, Blue Jays, Giants and Pirates he hit .264/.313/.384 with 60 HR, 371 RBI, 593 R, 391 SB in 1303 games. He was originally drafted by the Pirates in the 38th round in 2001. Davis turned 36 on October 19.
Outfielder Rincones hit 51 for 198, .258/.373/.369 with 1 HR, 19 RBI, 38 R, 8 SB in 58 games in the Dominican Summer League. He originally signed with the Red Sox in 2015 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Rincones turned 18 on July 1st.
