Matt Lipka of the Down East Wood Ducks was selected the Carolina League July 2017 Player of the Month. This season the outfielder is hitting 67 for 237, .283/.337/.443 with 6 HR, 33 RBI, 32 R, 16 SB in 60 games at Down East, 15 for 94, .160/.216/.223 with 0 HR, 6 RBI, 16 R, 5 SB in 33 games at Double A Frisco and 1 for 4, .250/.250/.250 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 0 R, 0 SB in 1 game at Triple A Round Rock. Down East is the Class A Advanced team of the Texas Rangers. He was originally drafted by the Rangers with the 35th pick of the first round round in 2010. Lipka turned 25 on April 15.
