David Hernandez traded to Diamondbacks

David Hernandez was traded by the Los Angeles Angels to the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 31, 2017. The Angels in exchange received Luis Madero.

RHP Hernandez had split 2017 between Triple A Gwinnett before being traded by the Braves and with the Angels. He was 1-0, 2.23 ERA, 37 K, 1.02 WHIP, .223 BAA, 1 SV in 36.1 IP over 38 games with the Angels.  Over eight MLB seasons with the Angels, Phillies, Diamondbacks and Orioles he is 29-39, 3.97 ERA, 531 K, 1.32 WHIP, .239 BAA, 21 SV in 523.1 IP over 417 games with 27 GS. He was originally drafted by the Orioles in the 16th round in 2005. Hernandez turned 32 on May 13.

RHP Madero had split 2017 between Rookie Missoula and Short Season A Hillsboro. He was 3-1, 3.99 ERA, 28 K, 1.19 WHIP, .261 BAA in 29.1 IP over 5 GS at Missoula and 1-1, 8.24 ERA, 17 K, 1.68 WHIP, .337 BAA in 19.2 IP over 4 GS at Hillsboro. He originally signed with the Diamondbacks in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Madero turned 20 on April 15.
