Francisco Liriano traded to Astros

Francisco Liriano was traded by the Toronto Blue Jays to the Houston Astros on July 31, 2017. The Blue Jays in exchange received Norichika Aoki and Teoscar Hernandez. 

LHP Liriano had split 2017 between Triple A Buffalo while rehabbing and with the Blue Jays. He was 0-0, 4.15 ERA, 7 K, 1.15 WHIP, .188 BAA in 4.1 IP in 1 GS at Buffalo and 6-5, 5.88 ERA, 74 K, 1.62 WHIP, .280 BAA in 82.2 IP over 18 GS with the Blue Jays. Over 12 MLB seasons with the Blue Jays, Pirates, White Sox and Twins he was 102-97, 4.15 ERA, 1631 K, 1.34 WHIP, .241 BAA, 1 SV in 1595.2 IP over 303 games with 274 GS. He originally signed with the Giants in 2000 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Liriano turned 33 on October 26.

Outfielder Aoki hit 55 for 202, .272/.323/.371 with 2 HR, 19 RBI, 28 R, 5 SB in 70 games with the Astros in 2017. Over six MLB seasons with the Astros, Mariners, Giants, Royals and Brewers he hit .285/.350/.385 with 30 HR, 203 RBI, 357 R, 93 SB in 720 games. He originally signed with the Brewers in 2012 as a free agent out of Japan. Aoki turned 35 on January 5th. 

Outfielder Hernandez hit 84 for 301, .279/.369/.485 with 12 HR, 44 RBI, 54 R, 12 SB in 79 games at Triple A Fresno in 2017. He originally signed with the Astros in 2011 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Hernandez turned 24 on October 15.
