Scott Downs traded to Braves

Scott Downs was traded to from the Los Angeles Angels to the Atlanta Braves on July 29, 2013. In exchange the Angels received Cory Rasmus.

LHP Downs has 12 seasons MLB experience pitching with the Angels, Blue Jays, Expos and Cubs. Prior to the trade he was 2-3, 1.84 ERA, 22 K, 1.26 WHIP in 29.1 IP over 43 games with the Angels. For his MLB career he is 37-35, 3.46 ERA, 539 K, 1.32 WHIP, 26 SV in 703.0 IP over 543 games. He was originally drafted by the Cubs in the third round in 1997. Downs turned 37 on March 17.

RHP Rasmus had split 2013 between Triple A Gwinnett and the Braves prior to the trade. He was 3-1, 1.72 ERA, 48 K, 1.15 WHIP, 14 SV in 36.2 IP over 37 games at Gwinnett and was 0-0, 8.10 ERA, 6 K, 1.65 WHIP in 6.2 IP over 3 games with the Braves. He was originally drafted by the Braves with the 38th pick of the first round in 2006. Rasmus will be 26 on November 6th.
