Michael Morse traded to Orioles

Michael Morse was traded by the Seattle Mariners to the Baltimore Orioles on August 30, 2013. In exchange the Mariners received Xavier Avery.

Morse is an OF\1B with nine seasons MLB experience playing with the Mariners and Nationals. This season he hit .226/.283/.410 with 13 HR, 27 RBI, 31 R, 0 SB in 76 games with the Mariners. For his MLB career he has hit .284/.338/.479 with 83 HR, 272 RBI, 230 R, 6 SB in 561 games. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the third round in 2000. Morse turned 31 on March 22.

Avery is an outfielder who split 2013 between Double A Bowie and Triple A Norfolk of the Baltimore Orioles prior to the trade. He hit .300/.391/.406 with 1 HR, 12 RBI, 34 R, 12 SB in 39 games at Bowie and hit .237/.312/.312 with 2 HR, 23 RBI, 36 R, 17 SB in 81 games at Norfolk. He did spend time with the Orioles in 2012 when he hit .223/.305/.340 with 1 HR, 6 RBI, 14 R, 6 SB in 32 games. He was originally drafted by the Orioles in the second round in 2008. Avery turned 23 on January 1st.
