Alfonso Soriano traded to Yankees

Alfonso Soriano was traded by the Chicago Cubs to the New York Yankees on July 26, 2013. In exchange the Cubs received Corey Black.

Soriano is an OF\2B with 15 seasons MLB experience playing with the Cubs, Nationals, Rangers and Yankees. Prior to the trade he hit .254/.287/.467 with 17 HR, 51 RBI, 47 R, 10 SB in 93 games with the Cubs. For his MLB career he has hit .272/.321/.503 with 391 HR, 1092 RBI, 1102 R, 281 SB in 1861 games. He originally joined the Yankees in 1998 when his contract with the Hiroshima Toyo Carp of Japan was purchased. Soriano turned 37 on January 7th.

RHP Black with with Class A Advanced of the New York Yankees prior to the trade. In 2013 he was 3-8, 4.25 ERA, 88 K, 1.50 WHIP in 82.2 IP over 19 games at Tampa. He was originally drafted by the Yankees in the fourth round in 2012. Black turned 22 on August 4th.
