Wil Myers minor league player of year 2012
Kudos to Wil Myers on being named the Minor League Player of the Year for 2012 by both Baseball America and USA Today. Myers spent 2012 in the Kansas City Royals farm system splitting time between Double A Northwest Arkansas and Triple A Omaha. He hit .343/.414/.731 with 13 HR, 30 RBI, 32 R, 4 SB in 35 games with Northwest Arkansas and hit .304/.378/.554 with 24 HR, 79 RBI, 66 R, 2 SB in 99 games with Omaha. His 37 HR total was the second most in the minors this year while his 109 RBI were the fourth best. He played third base and outfield for both teams and should join 2006 Minor League Player of the Year Alex Gordon in the Royals outfield next season. He was originally drafted by the Royals in the third round in 2009. Myers will be 22 on December 10.
