The Reno Aces defeated the Pawtucket Red Sox 10-3 to claim the 2012 Triple A National Championship. Reno was the Pacific Coast League champ while Pawtucket won the International League. Reno is the Triple A team of the Arizona Diamondbacks and Pawtucket is the Triple A team of the Boston Red Sox.
Reno jumped on Pawtucket starter Nelson Figueroa for three runs in each of the first two innings to knock him out of the game. A J Pollock led the assault with a double and triple in his two at bats against Figueroa. For Reno starter Trevor Bauer struggled mightily with his control as his line was 4.2 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 7 BB, 6 K, 1 HR in 101 pitches. Only 49 of Bauer's 101 pitches went for strikes and he also had a wild pitch. Mike DeMark entered in relief to shut down the Red Sox bats and regain control. The RHP picked up the win after throwing 1.1 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K in 25 pitches. Tyler Bortnick led the Aces hitters going 3 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI, 2 runs scored and a stolen base. Pollock, Tyler Kuhn, Josh Bell, Brent Clevlen and Keon Broxton all added two hits to the offensive assault.
