I'm looking at some of the stat leaders in the Appalachian League. Currently they aren't even on the Major League radar but if they keep progressing they may be in the show in a few years.
Dario Pizzano is an outfielder who played with the Mariners Rookie team in Pulaski. He led the league in batting average and hit .356/.442/.511 with 4 HR, 28 RBI, 34 R, 3 SB in 53 games. He was promoted to the Class A short season team in Everett where he hit .333/.440/.476 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 1 R, 0 SB in 6 games. He was originally drafted by the Mariners in the 15th round in 2012. Pizzano turned 21 on April 25.
Patrick Leonard is a third baseman with the Royals Rookie team in Burlington. He tied for the league lead in home runs and hit .251/.340/.494 with 14 HR, 46 RBI, 37 R, 6 SB in 62 games. He was originally drafted by the Royals in the fifth round in 2011. Leonard will be 20 on October 20.
Terrance Gore is an outfielder with the Royals Rookie team in Burlington. He led the league in steals and hit .256/.379/.291 with 0 HR, 13 RBI, 50 R, 36 SB in 61 games. He was originally drafted by the Royals in the 20th round in 2011. Gore turned 21 on June 8th.
Daniel Minor is a RHP with the Astros Rookie team in Greeneville. He lead the league in ERA and WHIP and was 3-2 with a 2.75 ERA, 48 K, 1.03 WHIP in 59.0 IP over 11 games. He was originally drafted by the Astros in the ninth round in 2012. Minor turned 21 on February 9th.
Todd Kibby is LHP who played with the White Sox Rookie team in Bristol. He lead the league in strikeouts and was 5-4 with a 2.79 ERA, 69 K, 1.13 WHIP in 71.0 IP over 11 games. He was promoted to Class A Kannapolis and was 0-0 with a 3.00 ERA, 5 K, 1.00 WHIP in 6.0 IP in 1 game. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the 37th round in 2011. Kibby turned 21 on August 31.
