Sergio Mitre traded to Yankees

Pitcher Sergio Mitre was traded by the Milwaukee Brewers to the New York Yankees on June 29, 2011 for cash considerations. He had been traded to the Brewers from the Yankees before the season on March 25, 2011 in exchange for Chris Dickerson. He was originally drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the seventh round in 2001.

Mitre has been used exclusively in the bullpen so far this season by the Brewers and Yankees although he has starting experience. In previous seasons he has split time starting and in the bullpen for the Yankees, Marlins and Cubs. He spent the entire 2007 season as a starter for the Marlins going 5-8 with a 4.65 ERA, 80 strikeouts and 1.48 WHIP in 149 innings.
