Edwin Jackson traded to Blue Jays

Edwin Jackson was traded by the Chicago White Sox along with Mark Teahan to the Toronto Blue Jays on July 27, 2011. In exchange the White Sox received Jason Frasor and minor leaguer Zach Stewart.


RHP Edwin Jackson was 7-7 with a 3.92 ERA, 97 strikeouts, and 1.42 WHIP in 121.2 innings before the trade. In his career he has pitched for the White Sox, Diamondbacks, Tigers, Rays and Dodgers going 55-58 with a 4.53 ERA, 750 strikeouts and 1.48 WHIP over 1001 innings in 190 games pitched. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers in 2001.


Utility player Mark Teahan has played third base, first base and outfield in his career with the White Sox and Royals. Before the draft he was hitting .203 with three home runs, 11 RBI, 11 runs and zero steals in 51 games. For his career he has hit .265 with 66 home runs, 329 RBI, 385 runs and 45 steals in 804 games. He was originally drafted by the Athletics with the 39th pick of the first round in 2002.


RHP Jason Frasor was 2-1 with a 2.98 ERA, 37 strikeouts and 1.25 WHIP in 42.1 innings before the trade. In his eight year career with the Blue Jays he was 24-28 with a 3.69 ERA, 426 strikeouts, 1.30 WHIP and 36 saves over 461 innings in 455 games pitched. He was originally drafted by the Tigers in the 33rd round in 1999.


Zach Stewart is a RHP at the Triple A level of the minors. This season he was 5-5 with a 4.20 ERA, 74 strikeouts and 1.41 WHIP in 94.1 innings at Triple A and had a brief call up for 3 starts for the Blue Jays going 0-1 with a 4.86 ERA, 10 strikeouts and 1.86 WHIP in 16.2 innings. He was originally drafted by the Reds in teh third round in 2008.


Yet Jackson wouldn't have time to even unpack before being traded later in the day to the St Louis Cardinals.
