Orlando Cabrera traded to Giants

Orlando Cabrera was traded by the Cleveland Indians to the San Francisco Giants on July 30, 2011. In exchange the Indians receive minor league player Thomas Neal.


Cabrera has played second base and shortstop in 15 seasons for the Indians, Reds, Twins, Athletics, White Sox Angels, Red Sox and Expos. Before the trade he hit .244 with four home runs, 38 RBI, 35 runs and 6 steals in 91 games. For his career he has hit .273 with 122 home runs, 841 RBI, 981 runs and 214 steals in 1946 games. He originally signed with the Expos as an amateur free agent in 1993.


Neal is an outfielder at the Triple A level of the minors. This season he has hit .295 with two home runs, 25 RBI, 35 runs and 7 steals in 60 games. He was originally drafted by the Giants in the 36th round in 2005.
