Derrek Lee traded to Pirates

Derrek Lee was traded by the Baltimore Orioles to the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 30, 2011. In exchange the Orioles receive minor league player Aaron Baker.


First baseman Derrek Lee has played 15 seasons for the Orioles, Braves, Cubs, Marlins and Padres. Before the trade he hit .246 with 12 home runs, 41 RBS, 39 runs and 2 steals in 85 games. For his career he has hit .281 with 324 home runs, 1060 RBI, 1065 runs and 104 steals in 1914 games. He was originally drafted by the Padres with the 14th pick of the first round in 1993.


Baker is a first baseman at the Class A advanced level of the minors. This season he has hit .282 with 15 home runs, 73 RBI, 53 runs and one steal in 103 games. He was originally drafted by the Pirates in the 11th round in 2009.
