Jerry Hairston Jr traded to Brewers

Jerry Hairston Jr was traded by the Washington Nationals to the Milwaukee Brewers on July 30, 2011. In exchange the Nationals receive minor league player Erik Komatsu.


Hairston is a utility player who has played second, third, short and outfield. In his 14 year career he has played for the Nationals, Padres, Yankees, Reds, Rangers, Cubs and Orioles. Before the trade he was hitting .268 with  four home runs, 24 RBI, 25 runs and 2 steals in 75 games. For his career he has hit .258 with 63 home runs, 365 RBI, 526 runs and 145 steals in 1223 games. He was originally drafted by the Orioles in the 11th round in 1997.


Erik Komatsu is an outfielder at the Double A level of the minors. Before the trade he was hitting .294 with six home runs, 40 RBI, 48 runs and 13 steals in 93 games. He was originally drafted by the Brewers in the eighth round in 2008.
