Marc Rzepczynski traded to Indians

Marc Rzepczynski was traded by the St Louis Cardinals to the Cleveland Indians on July 30, 2013. In exchange the Cardinals received Juan Herrera.

LHP Rzepczynski has five seasons MLB experience pitching for the Cardinals and Blue Jays. He split 2013 between Triple A Memphis where he was 1-2, 3.07 ERA, 31 K, 1.41 WHIP in 44.0 IP over 32 games and the Cardinals where he was 0-0, 7.84 ERA, 9 K, 1.94 WHIP in 10.1 IP over 11 games. For his MLB career he is 9-17, 4.19 ERA, 220 K, 1.40 WHIP in 245.0 IP over 178 games. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays in the fifth round in 2007. Rzepczynski will be 28 on August 28.

Herrera is a SS\3B who played 2013 with Class A Mahoning Valley of the Indians. He hit .275/.366/.369 with 1 HR, 11 RBI, 20 R, 2 SB in 39 games. He originally signed with the Indians in 2010 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Herrera turned 20 on June 28.
