Alex Rios traded to Rangers

Alex Rios was traded by the Chicago White Sox to the Texas Rangers on July 9, 2013. In exchange the White Sox received Leury Garcia.

Rios is an outfielder with 10 seasons MLB experience playing with the White Sox and Blue Jays. Prior to he trade he hit .277/.328/.421 with 12 HR, 55 RBI, 57 R, 26 SB in 109 games with the White Sox. For his MLB career he has hit .278/.325/.443 with 155 HR, 683 RBI, 766 R, 211 SB in 1409 games. He was originally drafted by the Blue Jays with the 19th pick of the first round in 1999. Rios turned 32 on February 18.

Garcia is a SS\2B\OF who had split 2013 between Triple A Round Rock and the Rangers prior to the trade. He hit .264/.314/.409 with 4 HR, 19 RBI, 31 R, 12 SB in 47 games at Round Rock and hit .192/.236/.231 with 0 HR, 1 RBI, 8 R, 1 SB in 25 games with the Rangers. He originally signed with the Rangers in 2007 as an amateur free agent out o the Dominican Republic. Garcia turned 22 on March 18.
