Alberto Callaspo traded to Athletics

Alberto Callaspo was traded by the Los Angeles Angels to the Oakland Athletics on July 30, 2013. In exchange the Angels received Grant Green.

Callaspo is a 3B\2B\SS with eight seasons MLB experience playing with the Angels, Royals and Diamondbacks. This season he hit .252/.324/.347 with 5 HR, 36 HR, 32 R, 0 SB in 86 games with the Angels. For his MLB career he has hit .272/.334/.379 with 42 HR, 293 RBI, 314 R, 22 SB in 821 games. He originally signed with the Angels in 2001 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Callaspo turned 30 on April 19.

Green is a 2B\SS who has split 2013 between Triple A Sacramento and the Athletics. He hit .325/.379/.500 with 11 HR, 50 RBI, 66 R, 4 SB in 87 games at Sacramento and was hitless in five games with the Athletics. He was originally drafted by the Athletics with the 13th pick of the first round in 2009. Green will be 26 on September 27.
