Jason Marquis was traded by the Washington Nationals to the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 30, 2011. In exchange the Nationals receive minor league player Zachary Walters.
Marquis is a RHP who in 12 seasons has played for the Nationals, Rockies, Cubs, Cardinals and Braves. Before the trade he was 8-5 with a 3.95 ERA, 71 strikeouts, and 1.42 WHIP in 120.2 innings over 20 games. For his career he is 104-97 with a 4.52 ERA, 969 strikeouts and 1.43 WHIP in 1664.1 innings over 323 games. He was originally drafted by the Braves with the 35th pick of the first round in 1996.
Walters has played second, third, shortstop and DH at the Class A level of the minors this season and is 21. This season he has hit .302 with nine home runs, 56 RBI, 69 runs and 12 steals in 97 games. He was originally drafted by the Diamondbacks in the ninth round in 2010.
