Sean Rodriguez traded to Pirates

Sean Rodriguez was traded by the Atlanta Braves to the Pittsburgh Pirates on August 5, 2017. The Braves in exchange received Connor Joe. 

Rodriguez is a super utility who has played 2B\3B\OF and had hit 6 for 37, .162/.326/.351 with 2 HR, 3 RBI, 6 R, 1 SB in 15 games after missing most of the season on the DL. This will be his second stint with the Pirates. Over 10 MLB seasons with the Braves, Pirates, Rays and Angels he hit .233/.303/.390 with 69 HR, 262 RBI, 287 R, 40 SB in 918 games. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the third round in 2003. Rodriguez turned 32 on April 26.

Third baseman Joe had split 2017 between Short Season A West Virginia while rehabbing and Double A Altoona. He hit 3 for 12, .250/.308/.333 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, 2 R, 0 SB in 3 games at West Virginia and 58 for 242, .240/.338/.380 with 5 HR, 30 RBI, 29 R, 2 SB in 74 games at Altoona, He was originally drafted by the Pirates with the 39th pick of the first round in 2014. Joe will be 25 on August 16.
