Ryan Garton traded to Mariners

Ryan Garton was traded by the Tampa Bay Rays to the Seattle Mariners on August 6, 2017 along with Mike Marjama. The Rays in exchange received Anthony Misiewicz, Luis Rengifo and a PTBNL.

RHP Garton had split 2017 between Triple A Durham and the Rays. He was 2-0, 1.64 ERA, 46 K, 1.03 WHIP, .162 BAA, 4 SV in 33.0 IP over 24 games with 1 GS at Durham and 0-1, 8.71 ERA, 9 K, 1.74 WHIP, .310 BAA in 10.1 IP over 7 games with the Rays. Over two MLB seasons with the Rays he was 1-3, 5.26 ERA, 42 K, 1.47 WHIP, .284 BAA, 1 SV in 49.2 IP over 44 games. He was originally drafted by the Rays in the 34th round in 2012. Garton turned 27 on December 5th. 

Catcher Marjama hit 72 for 263, .274/.342/.445 with 9 HR, 51 RBI, 32 R, 3 SB in 72 games at Durham in 2017. His minor league caught stealing rate is 30%. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the 23rd round in 2011 and traded to the Rays in 2015. Marjama turned 28 on July 20.

LHP Misiewicz had split 2017 between Class A Advanced Modesto and Double A Arkansas. He was 5-2, 4.96 ERA, 85 K, 1.40 WHIP, .265 BAA in 78.0 IP over 16 GS at Modesto and 3-3, 4.35 ERA, 32 K, 1.23 WHIP, .270 BAA in 41.1 IP over 7 GS at Arkansas. He was originally drafted by the Mariners in the 18th round in 2015. Misiewicz turned 22 on November 1st.

Second baseman Rengifo hit 100 for 400, .250/.318/.413 with 11 HR, 44 RBI, 65 R, 29 SB in 102 games at Class A Clinton in 2017. He originally signed with the Mariners in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of Venezuela. Rengifo turned 20 on February 26.
