Addison Reed traded to Red Sox

Addison Reed was traded by the New York Mets to the Boston Red Sox on July 31, 2017. The Mets in exchange received Gerson Bautista, Jamie Callahan and Stephen Nogosek.

RHP Reed was 1-2, 2.57 ERA, 48 K, 1.12 WHIP, .255 BAA, 19 SV in 49.0 IP over 48 games with the Mets in 2017. Over seven MLB seasons with the Mets, Diamondbacks and White Sox he was 17-20, 3.40 ERA, 397 K, 1.18 WHIP, .241 BAA, 125 SV in 375.2 IP over 381 games. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the third round in 2010, traded to the Diamondbacks in 2013 and traded to the Mets in 2015. Reed turned 28 on December 27.

RHP Gerson was 3-2, 5.16 ERA, 53 K, 1.81 WHIP, .292 BAA, 4 SV in 45.1 IP over 27 games at Class A Advanced Salem in 2017. He originally signed with the Red Sox in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Bautista turned 22 on May 31.

RHP Callahan had split 2017 between Double A Portland and Triple A Pawtucket. He was 4-1, 1.38 ERA, 20 K, 0.62 WHIP, .170 BAA, 2 SV in 13.0 IP over 10 games at Portland and 1-1, 4.03 ERA, 36 K, 1.41 WHIP, .250 BAA, 4 SV in 29.0 IP over 22 games at Pawtucket. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox in the second round in 2012. Callahan will be 23 on August 24. 

RHP Nogosek had split 2017 between Class A Greenville and Salem. He was 2-3, 2.55 ERA, 45 K, 0.99 WHIP, .197 BAA, 13 SV in 35.1 IP over 23 games at Greenville and 2-1, 4.08 ERA, 18 K, 1.42 WHIP, .242 BAA, 6 SV in 17.2 IP over 13 games at Salem. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox in the sixth round in 2016. Nogosek turned 22 on January 11.
