Adam Rosales traded to Diamondbacks

Adam Rosales was traded by the Oakland Athletics to the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 31, 2017. The Athletics in exchange received Jeferson Mejia.

Rosales is an utility player at SS\2B\3B\OF who hit 48 for 205, .234/.273/.346 with 4 HR, 27 RBI, 15 R, 1 SB in 71 games with the Athletics in 2017. Over 10 MLB seasons with the Athletics, Padres, Rangers and Reds he hit .228/.295/.364 with 44 HR, 168 RBI, 172 R, 17 SB in 606 games. He was originally drafted by the Reds in the 12th round in 2005. Rosales turned 34 on May 20.

RHP Mejia had split 2017 between Short Season A Hillsboro and Class A Kane County. He was 0-0, 5.06 ERA, 8 K, 1.50 WHIP, .250 BAA in 5.1 IP over 3 games at Hillsboro and 1-1, 6.08 ERA, 27 K, 1.86 WHIP, .247 BAA in 23.2 IP over 18 games at Kane County. He originally signed with the Cubs in 2013 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Mejia will be 23 on August 2nd.
