After the Major League phase of the Rule 5 draft there is also a minor league draft. One part is the Triple A phase where teams have the option to draft players from Double A level teams or lower to play for their Triple A teams. The cost is $12,000 for each player

The Tampa Bay Rays selected RHP Ty Hensley from the New York Yankees. He missed the 2015 and 2016 seasons after Tommy John surgery. He was originally drafted by the Yankees with the 30th pick of the first round in 2012..Hensley turned 23 on July 30.
The Atlanta Braves selected LHP Cesilio Pimentel from the Pittsburgh Pirates. He was 2-3, 2.65 ERA, 48 K, 1.04 WHIP, .210 BAA, 6 SV in 51.0 IP over 29 games at Class A West Virginia in 2016, He originally signed with the Pirates in 2012 as an amateur free agent out of the Dominican Republic. Pimentel will be 24 on January 5th.
The Arizona Diamondbacks selected RHP Jon Fitzsimmons from the Cleveland Indians. He was 1-0, 3.31 ERA, 25 K, 1.10 WHIP, .158 BAA in 16.1 IP over 10 games at Class A Lake County in 2016 He originally signed with the Royals as a non-drafted free agent in 2013. Fitzsimmons turned 25 on November 29.
The Philadelphia Phillies selected shortstop Jorge Flores from the Toronto Blue Jays. He split 2016 between Class A Advanced Dunedin and Double A New Hampshire.
