Danny Espinosa traded to Angels

Danny Espinosa was traded by the Washington Nationals to the Los Angeles Angels on December 10, 2016. The Nationals in exchange received Austin Adams and Kyle McGowin. 

Espinosa is a shortstop who hit .209/.306/.378 with 24 HR, 72 RBI, 66 R, 9 SB in 157 games with the Nationals in 2016. Over seven MLB seasons with the Nationals he hit .226/.302/.388 with 92 HR, 285 RBI, 337 R, 60 SB in 779 games. He was originally draftged by the Nationals in the third round in 2008. Espinosa turned 29 on April 25.

RHP Adams split  2016 between Rookie Arizona and Double A Arkansas. He was 0-0, 3.00 ERA, 2 K, 0.33 WHIP, .100 BAA in 3.0 IP over 2 games at Arizona and 0-1, 3.05 ERA, 61 K, 1.28 WHIP, .199 BAA, 4 SV in 41.1 IP over 32 games at Arkansas. He as originally draftted by the Angels in the eighth round in 2012. Adams turned 25 on May 5th.

RHP McGowin split 2016 between Arkansas and Triple A Salt Lake. He was 3-2, 4.56 ERA, 32 K, 1.21 WHIP, .227 BAA in 25.2 IP over 5 games at Arkansas and 6-12, 6.11 ERA, 98 K, 1.63 WHIP, .308 BAA in 116.1 IP over 22 games at Salt Lake. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the third round in 2013. McGowin turned 25 on November 27.
