Clay Buchholz traded to Phillies

Clay Buchholz was traded by the Boston Red Sox to the Philadelphia Phillies on December 20, 2016. The Red Sox in exchange received Josh Tobias. 

RHP Buchholz was 8-10, 4.78 ERA, 93 K, 1.33 WHIP, .250 BAA in 139.1 IP over 37 games with 21 GS with the Red Sox in 2016. Over 10 MLB seasons with the Red Sox he was 81-61, 3.96 ERA, 899 K, 1.30 WHIP, .251 BAA in 1167.2 IP over 206 games with 188 GS. He was originally drafted by the Red Sox with the 42nd pick of the first round in 2005. Buchholz turned 32 on August 14.

Tobias is a 2B\OF who split 2016 between Class A Lakewood and Class A Advanced Clearwater. He hit .304/.375/.444 with 7 HR, 55 RBI, 49 R, 6 SB in 93 games at Lakewood and .254/.324/.357 with 2 HR, 14 RBI, 21 R, 4 SB in 34 games at Clearwater. He was originally drafted by the Phillies in the 10th round in 2015. Tobias turned 24 on November 23.
