Tyler Barnette was traded by the Chicago White Sox to the San Diego Padres on December 16, 2016 for cash. The RHP split 2016 between Double A Birmingham and Triple A Charlotte. He was 2-4, 4.70 ERA, 38 K, 1.53 WHIP, .281 BAA in 51.2 IP over 19 games with 6 GS at Birmingham and 1-2, 8.07 ERA, 21 K, 1.79 WHIP, .333 BAA in 32.1 IP over 18 games with 2 GS at Charlotte. He was originally drafted by the White Sox in the 14th round in 2013. Barnette turned 24 on May 28.
