Jaime Garcia traded to Braves

Jaime Garcia was traded by the St Louis Cardinals to the Atlanta Braves on December 1, 2016. The Cardinals in exchange received Chris Ellis, John Gant and Luke Dykstra. 

LHP Garcia was 10-13, 4.67 ERA, 150 K, 1.37 WHIP, .268 BAA in 171.2 IP over 32 games with the Cardinals in 2016. Over eight MLB seasons with the Cardinals he was 62-45, 3.57 ERA, 723 K, 1.28 WHIP, .269 BAA in 896.0 IP over 158 games with 147 GS. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the 22nd round in 2005. Garcia turned 30 on July 8th.

RHP Ellis split 2016 between Double A Mississippi and Triple A Gwinnett, He was 8-2, 2.75 ERA, 61 K, 1.13 WHIP, .201 BAA in 78.2 IP over 13 games at Mississippi and 4-7, 6.52 ERA, 65 K, 1.77 WHIP, .269 BAA in 67.2 IP over 15 games at Gwinnett. He was originally drafted by the Angels in the third round in 2014 and was traded to the Braves in 2015. Ellis turned 24 on September 22.

RHP Gant split 2016 between Class A Rome, Gwinnett and the Braves. He was 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 2 K, 0.67 WHIP, .111 BAA in 3.0 IP in 1 game at Rome, 3-3, 4.18 ERA, 57 K, 1.43 WHIP, .262 BAA in 56.0 IP over 12 games with 10 GS at Gwinnett and 1-4, 4.86 ERA, 49K, 1.50 WHIP, .278 BAA in 50.0 IP over 20 games with 7 GS with the Braves. He was originally drafted by the Mets in the 21st round in 2011 and was traded to the Braves in 2015. Gant turned 24 on August 6th.

Dykstra is a second baseman who hit .304/.332/.363 with 0 HR, 41 RBI, 32 R, 7 SB in 81 games at Rome in 2016. He was originally drafted by the Braves in the seventh round in 2014. Dykstra turned 21 on November 7th.
