Wade Davis traded to Cubs

Wade Davis was traded by the Kansas City Royals to the Chicago Cubs on December 7, 2016. The Royals in exchange received Jorge Soler.

RHP Davis split 2016 between Rookie Arizona and Triple A Omaha while rehabbing and the Royals. He was 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 1 K, 1.00 WHIP, .250 BAA in 1.0 IP in 1 game at Arizona, 0-0, 0.00 ERA, 3 K, 1.00 WHIP, .286 BAA in 2.0 IP over 2 games at Omaha and 2-1, 1.87 ERA, 47 K, 1.13 WHIP, .210 BAA, 27 SV in 43.1 IP over 45 games with the Royals. Over eight MLB seasons with the Royals and Rays he was 55-37, 3.53 ERA, 689 K, 1.28 WHIP, .241 BAA, 47 SV in 776.2 IP over 334 games with 88 GS. He was originally drafted by the Rays in the third round in 2004 and was traded to the Royals in 2012. Davis turned 31 on September 7th.

Soler is an outfielder who split 2016 between Double A Tennessee and Triple A Iowa while rehabbing and the the Cubs. He hit 5 for 30, .167/.381/.162 with 0 HR, 2 RBI, 4 R, 0 SB in 9 games at Tennessee, 1 for 7, .143/.143/.143 with O HR, 0 RBI, 0 R, )SB in 2 games at Iowa and .238/.333/.436 with 12 HR, 31 RBI, 37 R, 0 SB in 86 games with the Cubs. Over three MLB seasons with the Cubs he hit .258/.328/.434 with 27 HR, 98 RBI, 87 R, 4 SB in 211 games. He originally signed with the Cubs in 2012 as an amateur free agent out of Cuba. Soler will be 25 on February 25.
