Kris Bryant of the Chicago Cubs was named the 2016 National League Most Valuable Player by the Baseball Writers Association of America. He garnered 29 first place votes and had 415 points total. Receiving the other first place vote was Daniel Murphy of the Washington Nationals with 245 points total. The rest of the top five were Corey Seager of the Dodgers with 240 points, Anthony Rizzo of the Cubs with 202 points and Nolan Arenado of the Rockies with 199 points.
Other receiving votes were Freddie Freeman of the Braves with 129 points, Joey Votto (Reds, 100), Yoenis Cespedes (Mets, 45), Justin Turner (Dodgers, 44), Max Scherzer (Nationals, 39), Paul Goldschmidt (Diamondbacks, 18), Brandon Crawford (Giants, 15), Jean Segura (Diamondbacks, 14), Buster Posey (Giants, 11), DJ LeMahieu (Rockies, 7), Madison Bumgarner (Giants, 7), Jeurys Familia (Mets, 6), Wilson Ramos (Nationals, 6), Addison Russell (Cubs, 5), Noah Syndergaard (Mets, 5), Christian Yelich (Marlins, 5), Yasmani Grandal (Dodgers, 4), Kyle Hendricks (Cusb, 2), Ryan Braun (Brewers, 2), Yadier Molina (Cardinals, 2), Charlie Blackmon (Rockies, 1) and Johnny Cueto (Giants, 1).

Bryant was the 2015 NL Rookie of the Year . He was originally drafted by the Cubs with the second pick of the first round in 2013. Bryant will be 25 on January 4th.
