Austin Gomber of the Glendale Desert Dogs was selected the Arizona Fall League Pitcher of the Week for the span of October 24, 2016 through October 30, 2016. For the week he was 2-0, 0.90 ERA, 2 GS, 10.0 IP, 6 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 HR, 0 HBP, 2 BB and 10 K. This fall the LHP is 3-0, 2.12 ERA, 19 K, 0.94 WHIP in 17.0 IP over 4 games.
The Cardinals prospect had split the 2016 season between Class A Advanced Palm Beach and Double A Springfield. He was 6-8, 2.93 ERA, 101 K, 1.07 WHIP, .229 BAA in 107.2 IP over 17 games at Palm Beach and 1-0, 1.40 ERA, 15 K, 1.03 WHIP, .167 BAA in 19.1 IP over 4 games at Springfield. He was originally drafted by the Cardinals in the fourth round in 2014. Gomber will be 23 on November 23.
