Corey Seager of the Los Angeles Dodgers was named the 2016 National League Rookie of the Year after receiving all 30 first place votes by the Baseball Writers Association of America for a total of 150 points. Others receiving votes were Trea Turner of the Nationals with 42 points, Kenta Maeda (Dodgers, 37), Trevor Story (Rockies, 24), Aledmys Diaz (Cardinals, 14), Jon Gray (Rockies, 1), Steven Matz (Mets, 1) and Seung Hwan Oh (Cardinals, 1).
This season the shortstop hit .308/.365/.512 with 26 HR, 72 RBI, 105 R, 3 SB in 157 games. He was originally drafted by the Dodgers with the 18th pick of the first round in 2012. Seager turned 22 on April 27.
