Josh Hamilton of the Texas Rangers had a historic effort at the plate by setting a new American League record for total bases in a game with 18. He was a perfect 5 for 5 in the game with four home runs and a double. He was the fourteenth player in MLB history to hit four home runs in a game. In addition to the home runs Hamilton had 8 RBI and four runs. For the season he is now hitting .406/.458/.840 with 14 HR, 36 RBI, 25 R, and 2 SB in 27 games. The Rangers beat the Orioles 10-3.
